Pilgrimage to Ancient Greece

Holy Islands, Sacred Temples and Oracle Shrines

September 1 – 15, 2005

The sites visited will include the holy islands of Patmos and Tinos, the great oracle shrine of Delphi, many sites in and around Athens, and other little known magical places in the Peloponnese. The pilgrimage will be co-lead by one of Martin's friends, Thanassis Vembos, who lives in Greece and is very knowledgeable about the sacred mysteries of his country (www.vembos.gr/indexen.htm). The pilgrimage will feature plenty of quiet time at beautiful sacred sites, fun evenings at traditional taverns with tasty local food, and talks given by Martin and Thanassis on the archaeology, mythology and culture of ancient Greece. An added benefit of this pilgrimage is that Martin will teach Nomadics movement meditations each morning for those who wish to learn these wonderful techniques.

These easy going pilgrimages are certainly not rough travel or adventure tourism but, equally important, they are not luxury events, with lots of frills, expensive hotels and baby-sitting for unprepared travelers. They are group journeys for psychologically mature adults who are willing to be team players. We will stay in comfortable hotels, travel in safe vehicles, eat healthy food, and take moderate day hikes without heavy packs. If you are in good health, can walk two hours without problem, and are willing to be spiritually focused and psychologically present in group dynamics, then these pilgrimages may be a life changing experience for you.
